It was a privilege for the team at Regstreet Law Advisors, led by our Managing Partner and former SEBI Officer, Mr. Sumit Agrawal, to deliver a regulatory training programme this week for over 100 officers and employees of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) at their Head Office in Mumbai.
National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), as a key Market Infrastructure Institution (MII) and depository governed under the Depositories Act 1996 and SEBI (Depositories and Participants) Regulations 2018, plays a foundational role in Indiaโs securities ecosystem. The programme focused on the practical regulatory dilemmas faced by officers and employees, helping them better understand both behavioural expectations and the perspective of the regulator as well as their other stakeholders including their governing board.
The session examined real-life regulatory, ethical, and operational scenarios that professionals within depository institutions frequently encounter, or may potentially face, while discharging their responsibilities. The discussion also focused on the potential challenges and opoortunities that may arise once the ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐ซ๐ค๐๐ญ ๐๐จ๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ (SMC) is enacted, as well as the regulatory and operational aspects that other MIIs have encountered in the past.
